Removal

WARNING: The electrical power to the air suspension system must be shut off prior to hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension vehicle. This can be accomplished by turning off the air suspension switch located in the RH kick panel area. Failure to do so can result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the rear air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations.

1. Turn the air suspension service switch off.
2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
4. Remove the brake disc.

5. CAUTION: Discard the front axle wheel hub retainer. It is a torque prevailing design and cannot be reused.

Remove the front axle wheel hub retainer.

6. Note: Make sure the steering column is in the unlocked position, and do not use a hammer to separate the ball joint from the front suspension lower arm. Use extreme care not to damage the boot seal.

Remove and discard the front suspension lower arm-to-ball joint nut.

7. Using a suitable puller, separate the ball joint from the front suspension lower arm.

8. Note: Secure the front wheel driveshaft joint to the vehicle body to maintain a level position.

Using the front Hub Remover/Replacer and the stud adapters, press the front wheel driveshaft joint out of the wheel hub.

9. Remove and discard the three wheel hub mounting bolts.

10. CAUTION: The wheel hub is not pressed into the front wheel knuckle. Do not use a slide hammer, or strike the back of the inner bearing race to remove a stuck wheel hub. Damage to the bearings or the wheel hub will occur.

Apply rust penetrant and inhibitor to the inboard and outboard wheel hub/knuckle mating surface, and remove the wheel hub from the front wheel knuckle.

Installation
1. Lightly coat the surfaces of the bearing carrier and the front wheel knuckle with high temperature nickel anti-seize.

2. CAUTION: Knuckle bore must be clean to allow the wheel hub to be completely seated by hand. Do not press or draw the wheel hub into place.

Note: Remove all foreign material from the knuckle bearing bore for correct seating of the new wheel hub.

Position the wheel hub onto the front wheel knuckle and install the retaining bolts.
3. Install the front wheel driveshaft joint into the wheel hub.

4. Install a new front axle wheel hub retainer.

5. Position the lower ball joint into the front suspension lower arm and install a new front suspension lower arm-to-ball joint nut.
6. Install the brake disc.
7. Install the wheel and tire assembly.
8. Lower the vehicle.

9. Turn the air suspension service switch on.
