Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

Fuel Tank Lockring Wrench:

SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S)

REMOVAL
1. Remove the fuel tank.
2. Clean the area around the fuel pump mounting flange.







3. Using the Fuel Tank Lockring Wrench, remove the fuel pump locking retainer ring.







4. Remove the fuel pump module from the fuel tank.

CAUTION: The fuel pump must be handled carefully to prevent damage to the float arm and filter

5. Remove and discard the fuel pump mounting gasket.

INSTALLATION
1. Clean the fuel pump mounting flange and the fuel tank mounting surface.
- Apply a light coat of Premium Long Life Grease XG-1-C or -K or equivalent meeting Ford Specification ESA-M1C75-B to the mounting gasket to hold it in position during installation.
2. Install the fuel pump mounting gasket.







3. Carefully install the fuel pump module into the fuel tank, being careful not to damage the float rod.







4. Position the top flange on the fuel tank. Install the fuel pump locking retainer ring and hand tighten.
5. Using the Fuel Tank Lockring Wrench, tighten the retainer ring against the stops.
6. Install the fuel tank.
