Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
CAUTION: The mass air flow sensor hot wire sensing element and housing are calibrated as a unit and must be repaired as a complete assembly. Do not damage the sensing element (internal to housing) or failure of the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF sensor) may occur.
2. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT sensor).
3. Remove the crankcase ventilation tube from the air cleaner outlet tube.
4. Remove the Engine Air Cleaner (ACL). For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
5. Remove the engine air cleaner cover and the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and disconnect the electrical connector.
6. Remove the nuts and the mass air flow sensor from the inner cover.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION: The mass air flow sensor cover is indexed. If the cover is not installed correctly damage to the mass air flow sensor will occur.
