Heater Core Case: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the instrument panel. For additional information, refer to: Dashboard/Instrument Panel. Service and Repair







2. Remove the screw and remove the duct.







3. If equipped, remove the two screws and remove the transmission shift lockout bracket.
4. Disconnect the venturi assembly from the plenum chamber.







5. Remove the connectors to the panel door actuator, the floor door actuator and the defrost actuator.

NOTE: Panel door actuator connector shown, defrost and floor door actuator connectors similar.







6. Disconnect the two temperature sensor connectors.

NOTE: There are two temperature sensors on the plenum chamber. The removal procedure is the same for each.







7. Remove the plenum chamber screws.







8. Remove the screws at the top of the plenum.







9. Remove the screw at the bottom of the plenum and remove the plenum chamber.
10. Remove the center console panel door, defrost door and floor duct door actuators.

NOTE: If installing a new plenum chamber, remove the electronic actuators from the plenum chamber for re-use.

11. Remove the airflow temperature sensors.

NOTE: If installing a new plenum chamber, remove the temperature sensors for re-use.

12. Remove the venturi assembly and cap.

NOTE: If installing a new plenum chamber, remove the venturi assembly and cap for re-use.


INSTALLATION
1. If necessary, install the venturi assembly and cap.
2. If necessary, install RH and LH air flow temperature sensors.
3. If necessary, install floor console panel door actuator.

NOTE:
- New door actuator assemblies have the actuator shipped in mid-position. If reinstalling an actuator removed from the vehicle, electrically drive the actuator to the mid-position to assist in assembly.
- Make sure the link between the panel door actuator and the floor console door is the correct length. Position the actuator and the door fully open or fully closed. Manually position the floor console door fully open or fully closed then install the link. Following installation, verify the door position by checking the air flow to the panel and the floor console.

4. If necessary, install the floor door actuator.
5. If necessary, install the defrost door actuator.







6. Position the plenum chamber and install the screws.







7. Install the screws at the top of the plenum chamber.







8. Install the screw at the bottom of the plenum.
9. Connect the venturi hose assembly to the plenum chamber.







10. If necessary, install the transmission shift lockout bracket.







11. Install the duct and the screw.
12. Install the instrument panel.
