Parameter Identification (PIDs)

Restraints Control Module (RCM) Parameter Identification (PID) Table

The PID/Data Monitor and Record option allows the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester operator to read the state of several Parameter IDs (PIDs) to aid in diagnosing the system. PIDs are real time measurements of parameters such as voltages, resistances, etc., calculated by the Restraints Control Module (RCM) and sent to the NGS Tester for display. Many of the PIDs supported by the RCM are calculated periodically and are, therefore, not true real time readings. Above is a table of supported PIDs expected range and units of measurement.

To retrieve PIDs, follow these steps:
1. Connect the NGS Tester to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
3. Select the MODEL YEAR and VEHICLE.
4. Select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK.
5. Select RCM (Restraints Control Module).
6. Select PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD.
7. Record all PIDs that are to be retrieved, and press START. PIDs are updated continuously on the display.
