ISSUE
The rear license plate lamp retention clips may break and the lamp may come loose from the rear license plate chrome housing on some vehicles.
ACTION
Replace both license plate lamp assemblies with revised assemblies. Both lamp assemblies should be replaced with the revised assemblies even if only one lamp comes loose. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Open the trunk.
NOTE:
USE CARE TO AVOID KINKING OR DAMAGING THE SECONDARY, INSIDE TRUNK RELEASE CABLE WHEN REMOVING THE LINER.
2. Remove the push pins that secure the truck lid liner and remove the liner.
3. Remove the bulbs from the lamp housings.
4. Release the clips that secure the lamps to the chrome housing.
5. Install the new lamp housings.
6. Reinstall the bulbs.
7. Reinstall the trunk lid liner, taking care to route the secondary trunk release cable correctly.
8. Verify operation of the lamps.
