Cellular Phone: Description and Operation
The portable cellular phone system consists of these major components:
^ Cellular phone handset.
^ Portable battery.
^ Portable holder.
^ Coil cord.
^ Steering column shroud mounted microphone.
^ Portable Support Electronics (PSE) module.
^ Glass mounted cellular phone antenna.
^ Antenna cable.
^ Radio chassis audio controls.
The portable cellular phone system has three operating modes: handset, hands-free and portable. In handset operation mode, the phone is connected to the coil cord and is hand held. Hands-free operation mode allows phone operation without picking it up. It uses the vehicle audio system speakers to receive sound and the steering column shroud mounted microphone to speak into. The audio system must be turned ON for hands-free mode to operate. Portable operation mode allows you to use the phone while disconnected from the coil cord, as a portable cellular phone. The phone is powered up by its battery when used as a portable.
Voice activated outgoing call feature, automatically dials the number of the recognized name which was requested. Refer to the User's Guide for further description and operation of the portable cellular phone system.
