Instrument Panel Illumination

The instrument cluster and panel lamps consist of:
- Hybrid Electronic Cluster (HEC).
- Electronic Automatic Temperature Control(EATC) module.
- Radio chassis.
- Headlamp switch.
- Cigar lighter lamp.
- Message center switch module.
- Steering wheel control switches.
- Window and lock switches (front only).
- Mirror switches.
- Electric clock (Cartier only).
- Front door trim panel pull cup lighting (if equipped).

Dimmable backlighting is provided by the Lighting Control Module (LCM), when the headlamp switch is set to the park lamps ON or headlamps ON position or the autolamp function is enabled. Light intensity is adjusted by pressing the PANEL DIM switch.

The LCM provides two SCP signals to indicate backlighting intensity to the following:
- HEC.
- EATC.
- Radio chassis.

These modules use the SCP message to dim their respective displays.

The LCM provides a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) output to control backlighting intensity to the following:
- Cigar lighter lamp.
- Message center switch module.
- Steering wheel control switches.
- Window and lock switches (front only).
- Headlamp switch.
- Mirror switches.
- Electric clock (Cartier only).
- Front door trim panel pull cup lighting (if equipped).

The signal duty cycle is varied in proportion to the demanded panel dimming level detected by the LCM from the panel dim switch.

If the headlamps are operated during daylight hours the light sensor amplifier will detect high ambient light levels and signal the LCM to keep illumination levels readable and therefore non-adjustable.
