Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the power windows/heated back window to duplicate the concern.
2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

3. If the inspection reveals obvious concerns that can be readily identified, repair as required.
4. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the scan tool menu. If the scan tool does not power up:
^ check that the program card is properly installed.
^ check the connections to the vehicle.
^ check the ignition switch position.

If the scan tool still does not power up, refer to the scan tool manual.

5. Perform the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST using the scan tool. If the scan tool responds with:
^ CKT 914 or CKT 915 ALL MODULE NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, go to Communication Diagnostics in Module Communications Network (Information Bus) to diagnose the network concern.
^ NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the Driver Door Module (DDM), go to Pinpoint Test A. Test A: No Communication With the Driver Door Module
^ If the DDM is not listed for a communication concern, turn the ignition switch to RUN, make sure all doors are closed, retrieve and record the continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs, then execute the Self Test Diagnostics for the DDM. If the DDM exits diagnostic state during the self-test and returns to normal operation state, go to Pinpoint Test A. Test A: No Communication With the Driver Door Module
6. If the DDM DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the Driver Door Module (DDM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue the diagnostics. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
7. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue the diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
