Alternator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the degas bottle; refer to Cooling System.







3. Remove the accessory drive belt from the generator pulley; refer to Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories.







4. Disconnect the wire harness attachments to the Generator (GEN) and the voltage regulator assembly.







5. Remove bolts and nuts from the generator mounting bracket and remove the generator mounting bracket from the top of the generator.







6. Remove the through-bolts and remove the generator.

INSTALLATION

















1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
^ Fill the cooling system; refer to Cooling System.
