Check
1. Using the scan tool (WDS), monitor the Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) using PID: TFT.
2. Start vehicle.
3. Engine speed at idle (approximately at 650 rpm). Run engine until the recommended TFT is between 27°C and 49°C (80°F - 120°F). The fluid level can be checked above 50°C (122°F) using this procedure.
4. Move the selector lever slowly, stopping in each gear.
5. Place selector lever in the PARK position.
6. Raise and support the vehicle.
7. Set vehicle as close to level as possible (± 2° to 3°). Optional, if needed, the special tool can be used to assist in leveling the vehicle.
8. Place a drain pan under the transmission.
9. NOTE: It will be necessary to hold the drain plug (larger plug) with a wrench when removing the fluid level indicator plug.
With the transmission in the PARK position and the engine running, use a 3/16 inch Allen key to remove the fluid level indicator plug.
10. Allow the fluid to drain. Wait approximately one minute. When the fluid comes out as a thin stream or a drip, it is at the correct level.
11. If no fluid comes out from the hole, fluid will need to be added. Continue with this Procedure.
12. Install the special tool into the pan.
13. Using the special tool, extract approximately one pint of clean automatic transmission fluid from a suitable container.
14. Using the special tools, fill the transmission with clean automatic transmission fluid.
15. Remove the special tool.
16. Check the fluid level. If fluid starts to drain from the plug the transmission is full. Wait until the fluid drips out from the plug. If no fluid drains from the plug keep adding clean automatic transmission fluid until fluid starts to drain from the plug.
17. Remove the special tool from the pan.
18. Reinstall the fluid level indicator plug.
19. Lower the vehicle.
20. Check the operation of the transmission and inspect for leaks.
