Principles of Operation (How Does It Work?)
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATIONVoltage is supplied to the roof opening panel motor at all times through circuit 30-AG12 (RD/GN) with the motor being grounded by circuit 31-AG12 (BK/GN). The driver door module (DDM) provides the delayed accessory power on circuit 10-AJ43B (GY/VT) and also the global open/close signal on circuit 8-AJ43B (WH/BU). Since the roof opening panel motor is always powered, the delayed accessory circuit is actually used by the smart motor to determine key position (key OFF, key ON).
With the delayed accessory circuit powered, the roof opening panel smart motor will operate as per the command supplied by the voltage input from the roof opening panel control switch on circuits 32-AG10 (WH/BU) (OPEN), 9-AG7 (BN/RD) common, 32-AG12 (WH/GN) (TILT UP), 33-AG10 (YE/BU) (CLOSE). The commands may include either a one-touch (express) open or close, proportional open or close, vent open or close.
The global open function will occur if the unlock button is pressed and held for two seconds. The driver door module (DDM) will receive the input from the transmitter and will transmit a signal over the global open/close circuit 8-AJ43 (WH/BU) to the roof opening panel smart motor. The microprocessor (which makes it a "smart" motor) in the smart motor will determine which global function to carry out and will then do so. If the key is turned in the driver door lock cylinder to the unlock position and held for two seconds (for global open) or to the lock position and held for two seconds (for global close), the DDM will process these inputs and send the appropriate global open/close signal to the roof opening panel smart motor.
