Timing Cover: Service and Repair
Engine Front Cover1. Remove the RH valve cover.
2. Remove the LH valve cover.
3. Remove the belt idler pulleys and the belt tensioner.
4. Remove the coolant pump.
5. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
6. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
7. Remove the oil pan.
8. Remove the power steering pump.
9. Remove the crankshaft front oil seal.

10. Remove the components in the order indicated in the illustration and table.
Items 5 and 6: Engine Front Cover and Engine Front Cover Gaskets Removal Note
1. Remove the fasteners and the engine front cover.
- Discard the gasket.
Items 4-6: Engine Front Cover, Engine Front Cover Fasteners and Engine Front Cover Gaskets Installation Note
1. Clean the sealing surfaces on the engine and the engine front cover.
2. NOTE: Install the engine front cover within four minutes of sealant application.
Apply a 6 mm (0.24 inch) diameter dot of silicone gasket and sealant to the areas indicated.
- Install a new gasket.
3. NOTE: Number 14 is a stud and washer assembly.
Position the front cover and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
