CLIMATE CONTROLLED SEATS TURNING OFF SHORTLY AFTER INITIALIZATION - DTC'S B2729, B2730, B2731

LINCOLN:
2003-2004 LS

This article supersedes TSB 04-04-02 to update the vehicle model years and service procedure.

ISSUE

Some 2003-2004 Lincoln LS vehicles may exhibit a condition of one or both climate controlled seats turning off shortly after initialization with one of the following combinations of DTC's present in the climate controlled seat module (CCSM):

^ B2729 (Cushion Over-Temp Detected) with or without B2731 (Differential Temperature Fault) present

^ B2730 (Back Over Temp Detected) only

^ B2731 (Differential Temperature Fault) only

ACTION

The conditions described may be caused by an airflow restriction due to seat cushion crush (2003 Model Year), or one of the ducts in the climate controlled seat may be disconnected (2003 or 2004 Model Years). Refer to the appropriate Service Procedure below for details.

NOTE
DO NOT PERFORM THIS SERVICE PROCEDURE UNLESS AN AIRFLOW RESTRICTION HAS BEEN VERIFIED PER WORKSHOP MANUAL SECTION 501-10 DIAGNOSTICS.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE
DO NOT REPLACE THE DUAL AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL (DATC) MODULE FOR ANY OF THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THIS TSB.

NOTE
DTC'S MUST BE RETRIEVED FROM THE CCSM.

NOTE
WORKSHOP MANUAL SECTION 501-10 MAY BE REFERENCED IF HELP IS NEEDED FOR ANY OF THE PROCEDURES BELOW.

2003 MODEL YEAR DRIVER SEAT DTC B2729 WITH OR WITHOUT B2731 PRESENT:
