Valve Cover LH
Valve Cover LH1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
2. Remove the LH ignition coils.
3. Illustration 1 of 2. Remove the components in the order indicated in the illustration and table.
4. Illustration 2 of 2. Remove the components in the order indicated in the illustration and table.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Item 8: LH Valve Cover Removal Note
1. CAUTION: To disconnect the Normal fitting, squeeze the tabs and pull straight out or damage to the fitting can occur.
Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube.
2. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge valve hose.
3. Remove the Vapor Management Valve (VMV) cover.
4. Remove the VMV.
1 Disconnect the vacuum hose.
2 Disconnect the purge hose.
3 Disconnect the electrical connector and the push pin.
4 Remove the nuts and the valve.
5. Remove the fuel hose bracket bolt from the LH shock tower.
6. Loosen the bolts and position the power steering pump reservoir aside.
7. NOTE: The valve cover bolts are not to be removed from the valve cover.
Remove the LH valve cover.
^ Loosen the bolts in the sequence shown.
8. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of sealant.
Clean the sealing surfaces.
9. Install new gaskets.
Item 8: LH Valve Cover Installation Note
1. NOTE: If the valve cover is not secured within four minutes of sealant application the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or four minutes which ever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
Apply two beads of silicone gasket and sealant as shown.
2. Install the LH valve cover.
^ Position the valve cover and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
3. Install the power steering pump reservoir.
4. Install the fuel hose bracket bolt.
5. Install the VMV.
1 Install the nuts.
2 Connect the purge hose.
3 Connect the vacuum hose.
4 Connect the electrical connector and wiring harness push pin.
6. Install the VMV cover.
7. Connect the hose.
8. Connect the crankcase ventilation tube.
