PINPOINT TEST E: EVAPORATOR OR HEATER CORE DISCHARGE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND

Test E1-E2:

Test E2-E3:

Test E4-E5:

Test E6:

Normal Operation
Under normal operation, the LH and RH discharge temperature sensors receive a ground from the Dual Automatic Temperature Control (DATC) module through circuit (LH) 9-FA47 (BN/GN)/9-FA3 (BN/BL) and (RH) 9-FA51 (BN/YE)/9-FA3 (BN/BL). The evaporator discharge temperature sensor receives a ground from the DATC module through circuit 9-FA44 (BN/RD).

A 5-volt reference voltage is supplied to the LH and RH discharge temperature sensors from the DATC module through circuits (LH) 8-FA47 (WH/GN) and (RH) 8-FA51 (WH/BK). A 5-volt reference voltage is supplied to the evaporator discharge temperature sensor from the DATC module through circuit 8-FA44 (WH/RD).

Possible Causes
- An open in circuit 9-FA47 (BN/GN), 9-FA51(BN/YE), 9-FA3 (BN/BL), 9-FA44 (BN/RD), 8-FA47 (WH/GN), 8-FA51 (WH/BK) or 8-FA44(WH/RD).
- A short together in circuits 8-FA44 (WH/RD) and 9-FA44 (BN/RD), 8-FA51 (WH/BK) and 9-FA51 (BN/YE), 8-FA47 (WH/GN) and 9-FA47 (BN/GN).
- A short to ground in circuit 8-FA47 (WH/GN), 8-FA51 (WH/BK) or 8-FA44 (WH/RD).
- LH discharge temperature sensor.
- RH discharge temperature sensor.
- Evaporator discharge temperature sensor.
- DATC module.
