PINPOINT TEST N: THE SAFETY BELT WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

Test N1-N2:

Test N3-N4:

Normal Operation
The safety belt switch is hardwired directly to the restraint control module (RCM) through circuit 8-JA54 (WH) and grounded through circuit 31-JA54 (BK/YE). The instrument cluster receives the safety belt switch status from the RCM through circuit 8-GE52 (WH/BK). The RCM monitors resistance between the safety belt switch and ground and signals the instrument cluster when the safety belt is unfastened to turn on the safety belt warning indicator.

Possible Causes
- circuit 8-GE52 (WH/BK) open short to ground
- circuit 8-JA54 (WH) open, short to power or ground
- circuit 31-JA54 (BK/YE) open or short to power
- RCM
- instrument cluster
