PINPOINT TEST W: THE FOG LAMPS ARE INOPERATIVE

Normal Operation
The instrument cluster sends a voltage signal to the headlamp switch through circuit 8-LD10 (WH/BK). When the fog lamp switch is engaged, the signal is allowed to return to the instrument cluster. When the instrument cluster detects that the fog lamp switch is engaged, a signal is sent to the front electronic module (FEM) via the SCP network to command the fog lamps on. The fog lamp relay receives power from circuits 30S-LD8A (RD) and 30S-LD8B (RD). The fog lamp relay coil is grounded through circuit 31S-LD9 (BK/GN) to the FEM. When the FEM grounds circuit 31S-LD9 (BK/GN), the fog lamp relay is energized, switching power to circuit 30S-LD2 (RD/BU). Voltage then flows through circuits 30S-LD11 (RD/WH) and 30S-LD17 (RD/WH) to the LH and RH fog lamps, respectively. Ground for the LH fog lamp is through circuit 31-LD11 (BK/WH). Ground for the RH fog lamp is through circuit 31-LD17 (BK/WH).

Possible Causes
- circuit 8-LD10 (WH/BK) open
- circuit 31S-LD9 (BK/GN) open or short to power
- circuit 30S-LD8A (RD) open
- circuit 30S-LD8B (RD) open
- circuit 30S-LD2 (RD/BU) open
- fog lamp relay
- headlamp switch
- instrument cluster
