Normal Operation
The instrument cluster monitors the autolamps ON signal circuit to the headlamp switch through circuit 10-LE47 (GY/OG). When the headlamp switch is turned to the autolamps ON position, the signal is returned through circuit 9-LE29 (BN/GN). After the signal for the autolamps is received, the instrument cluster then monitors the photocell ambient light conditions by sending a signal to the photocell through circuit 8-LE42 (WH/BU). The photocell is grounded through circuit 31-LE42 (BK/OG). If a problem is detected with any of the voltage reference signals to the headlamp switch, the instrument cluster will default the headlamps and parking lamps ON.

Possible Causes
- circuit 8-LE42 (WH/BU) open or short to power
- circuit 10-LE47 (GY/OG) open or short to power
- circuit 31-LE42 (BK/OG) open
- photocell
- headlamp switch
- instrument cluster
