Wheel Bearing, Hub, Knuckle, Upper Arm and Lower Arm-RearSpecial Tools:
Special Tool(s)
CAUTION: Use the hex holding feature to prevent the ball studs from turning when removing the ball stud nuts.
1. For reference during the installation of an upper or lower arm, measure the distance between the center of the wheel hub and the lip of the fender with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheel and tire assemblies.
2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.
3. If removing the wheel knuckle or wheel hub and bearing, remove the brake disc.
4. To remove individual components, only carry out the listed steps.
5. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

6. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
8. Before tightening the upper or lower arm-to-frame fasteners, position a jack under the lower arm and raise the vehicle until the distance between the center of the hub and the lip of fender is equal to the measurement taken during the removal procedure.
9. Check and, if necessary, align the rear end.
Item 1: Axle Nut Removal Note
1. CAUTION: Do not use a hammer to separate the outboard CV joint from the hub. Damage to the threads and internal CV joint components can result.
Using the special tools, press the outboard CV joint until it is loose from the hub.
