Principles of Operation (How Does it Work?)
CAUTION: Do not use a key, pencil or any other hard object to press the keyless entry keypad buttons. These objects may damage the buttons.NOTE:
- The keyless entry transmitter will not operate with the transmission in REVERSE or DRIVE.
- The security mode operation will not function if the transmission is in gear.
The Driver Door Module (DDM) receives inputs from the digital Transmission Range (TR) sensor, ignition switch, seat switch, window/door lock control switches, Lighting Control Module (LCM), keyless entry keypad and remote transmitter. The DDM outputs consist of keyless entry keypad illumination, door lock actuators, luggage compartment release solenoid, horn relay and LCM.
The keyless entry keypad switch can be programmed with an alternate code. The alternate code can be entered by entering the five digit permanent entry code into the keyless entry keypad switch. Within five seconds of pressing the last button of the permanent code, press the 1/2 button and enter any alternate five digit code. After programming, the doors will signal by locking and then unlocking. Both the autolock and locking confirmation horn chirp can be enabled and disabled by the customer.
Programming the keyless entry remote transmitter is accomplished by using the diagnostic tool.
