Normal Operation
The transceiver module communicates with the passive anti-theft system (PATS) key. The control functions are contained in the instrument cluster. This instrument cluster carries out all of the PATS functions such as receiving the identification code from the PATS key and controlling engine enable. The instrument cluster initiates the key interrogation sequence when the key is inserted in the ignition switch and when the switch is turned to the START or RUN position.

Possible Causes
- less than 2 keys programmed to the system
- PATS transceiver
- unprogrammed PATS key
- instrument cluster
