Fuel Tank Draining

WARNING:

- This procedure involves fuel handling. Be prepared for spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.


1. Release the fuel pressure.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.







3. NOTE: This step will only drain 1/8 of the fuel when tank is full.

Using the special tool and a suitable fuel recovery system, drain the fuel from the passenger side of the fuel tank.

4. Remove the rear seat bottom and any insulation padding covering the fuel module access cover.







5. Remove the fuel pump module and fuel transfer pump access covers.







6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel transfer pump module.







7. Loosen the right fuel tank support strap approximately 1 inch.







8. Loosen the left fuel tank support strap approximately 1 inch.







9. Using the special tool, remove the fuel transfer pump lock ring.







10. Using the special tool and a suitable fuel recovery system, drain the fuel from the passenger side of the fuel tank.







11. Disconnect the electrical connector on the fuel pump module.







12. Using the special tool, remove the fuel pump module lock ring.







13. Using the special tool and a suitable fuel recovery system, drain the fuel from the driver side of the fuel tank.
