Removal and Installation
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove the driveshaft.
3. Loosen the 4 converter-to-manifold nuts.
^ To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
4. WARNING: Secure the transmission to the transmission jack with a safety chain. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
Using a suitable transmission jack, support the transmission.
5. Remove the transmission mount crossmember and lower the transmission enough to gain access to the digital transmission range (TR) sensor.
^ To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
6. Remove and discard the tie strap from the digital TR sensor connector boot.
7. Slide the rubber boot back and disconnect the digital TR sensor connector.
8. Disconnect the transmission shift cable from the manual control lever.
9. Remove the screws the digital TR screws and remove the digital TR sensor.
^ To install, alternately tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
10. CAUTION: The digital transmission range sensor must fit flush against the boss on the case to prevent damage to the sensor.
NOTE: The manual lever must be in the NEUTRAL position when installing the digital TR.
Using the special tool, align the digital TR sensor.
11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
12. Verify that the shift cable is adjusted correctly.
