Mirrors: Description and Operation
REAR VIEW MIRRORSThe rear view mirrors consist of the following components:
- interior rear view mirror
- auto-dimming rear view mirror (optional)
- auto-dimming rear view mirror with microphone (optional)
- exterior rear view mirror
- exterior rear view mirror glass
- exterior rear view mirror control switch
- exterior rear view mirror motor
Power Exterior Rear View
The exterior rear view mirror has the following features:
- electrically operated
- an available automatic dimming feature (LH)
- memory recall positioning is controlled by the driver seat module (DSM)
- heated mirrors are controlled by the heated rear window system
- is controlled by the exterior rear view mirror control switch which is located on the front door trim panel
Interior Rear View - Automatic Dimming
The interior rear view mirror:
- has an automatic dimming feature that controls the interior rear view mirror and the LH exterior rear view mirror, if so equipped.
- houses two sensors to determine dimmer actuation.
- defaults to the NORMAL setting when the transmission is shifted to REVERSE to allow a bright view for backing up.
- is disabled by pushing the mirror-mounted switch to the OFF position.
- has an indicator to inform the driver that the automatic dimming feature is ON.
- has backlighting for the interior rear view mirror buttons.
Memory
The memory mirror:
- position is stored in the driver seat module (DSM).
- automatically repositions upon entry by activation of:
- keyless entry keypad code position 1 or 2.
- keyless entry remote transmitter position 1 or 2.
The memory mirrors operate as follows:
- Enter the vehicle using the remote keyless entry transmitter or remote entry keypad code that is programmed to memory position 1 or 2.
- The driver door module (DDM) transmits a restore position 1 or 2 to the driver seat module (DSM).
- The DSM will restore the last mirror position saved for memory position 1 or 2.
