LACK OF A/C COOLING - TOWN CAR LIMOUSINES
EQUIPPED WITH REAR A/C UNIT
LINCOLN:
2005 Town Car
ISSUE
Some 2005 Town Car limousines with rear A/C unit may exhibit a lack of A/C cooling due to a low refrigerant charge. This condition may be caused by to the variable speed fan not being commanded on by the PCM when only the rear AC unit is being used. Lack of fan cooling could cause the high pressure valve to purge small amounts of refrigerant due to increased system pressure.
ACTION
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using WDS release B37.12 and higher or B38.2 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the B38 CD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website. After reprogramming verify proper operation of the NC system. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 412-03 if necessary.
