INSTRUMENT PANELRemoval and Installation
NOTE: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
1. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
2. Remove the floor console.
3. Remove the transmission range selector lever.
4. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar lower trim panels.
5. Remove the upper A-pillars.
6. Remove the 2 screws and position the hood release handle aside.
7. Disconnect the LH instrument panel harness electrical connectors.
8. CAUTION: Secure the steering wheel to prevent any rotation or damage to the air bag sliding contact.
Remove the pinch bolt and separate the intermediate shaft from the steering column.
- To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
9. Remove the screw and the RH floor heat duct.
10. Loosen the bolt and disconnect the RH instrument panel bulkhead electrical connector.
11. Disconnect the RH instrument panel harness electrical connectors.
12. Remove the instrument panel defroster opening grille.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
13. Remove the 3 instrument panel cowl top screws.
14. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel side finish panels.
15. Remove the 2 instrument panel cowl top bolts.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
16. Position the carpet aside, and remove the 4 instrument panel tunnel brace bolts.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
17. Remove the 2 LH instrument panel cowl side bolts and nut.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
18. Remove the RH instrument panel cowl side bolt and nut.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
19. Position the carpet aside and disconnect the LH junction box electrical connector.
20. NOTE: Two technicians are required to carry out this step.
Remove the instrument panel.
21. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
