WARNING DEVICES

The instrument cluster controls the warning chime function. The warning chime sounds to remind the driver:
- to turn the headlamps off when exiting the vehicle.
- to remove the ignition key when exiting the vehicle.
- to close the doors/decklid after starting the vehicle.
- to fasten the safety belt after the vehicle is started.
- to disengage the parking brake when driving the vehicle.
- to turn off the turn signal.

The instrument cluster uses various inputs to determine when to sound the warning chime. The warning chime sounds:
- if the headlamps are left on with the ignition switch in the OFF position and the driver door is ajar.
- if the key is in the ignition in the OFF position and the driver door is ajar.
- if a door/decklid is ajar while the ignition switch is in the RUN position.
- if the safety belts are not fastened and the ignition switch is in the RUN position.
- if the parking brake is engaged and the vehicle is in motion.
- if the turn signal is left on for more than 0.8 km (0.5 mile).
- if the air bag warning indicator is inoperative when there are diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present.
- if the engine has reached an over-temperature condition.
