Normal Operation
When the powertrain control module (PCM) detects the transmission is in REVERSE, a signal is sent to the rear electronic module (REM) to illuminate the reversing lamps. Voltage from the battery junction box (BJB) is sent through circuit 29S-LG1 (OG/YE) to circuits 29S-LG9 (OG/BK) and 29S-LG16 (OG/GN) to the LH and RH reversing lamps, respectively. Ground for the LH reversing lamp is sent through circuit 31S-LG9 (BK/GN) to the REM. Ground for the RH reversing lamp is sent through circuit 31S-LG16 (BK/RD) to the REM. The REM individually controls the ground circuits for the reversing lamps.
Possible Causes
- Circuit 29S-LG9 (OG/BK) open
- Circuit 29S-LG16 (OG/GN) open
- Circuit 31S-LG9 (BK/GN) open or short to voltage
- Circuit 31S-LG16 (BK/RD) open or short to voltage
- REM
