Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect the performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. A new part with the same part number must be installed if installation becomes necessary. Do not use a new part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.

CAUTION: Make sure that the stabilizer bar and brackets do not make contact with the radiator or damage to the radiator can occur.

1. Remove the engine cooling fan.
2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.





3. Remove the front and left side deflector shields.
4. Remove the 4 stabilizer bar bracket bolts.
^ To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).

5. NOTE: The hex-holding feature can be used to prevent turning of the stud while removing the nut.

Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link upper nuts.
^ To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).

6. NOTE: The hex-holding feature can be used to prevent turning of the stud while removing the nut.

Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link lower nuts, then disconnect the stabilizer bar links.
^ To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.)

7. Remove the air conditioning line bracket bolt.
^ To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).

8. Disconnect the air conditioning line retainer.
9. Remove the air conditioning line.
10. Remove and discard the LH shock absorber lower nut and bolt. Disconnect the LH shock absorber and spring assembly.
^ To install, tighten to 175 Nm (129 ft. lbs.).

11. NOTE: The hex-holding feature can be used to prevent turning of the stud while removing the nut.

NOTE: The tapered washer on the ball joint is reused with the new nut.

Remove and discard the LH lower ball joint nut. Disconnect the LH suspension lower arm.
^ To install, tighten to 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.).

12. NOTE: Position the LH lower control arm downward to ease removal of the stabilizer bar.

Carefully remove the stabilizer bar through the LH wheel well.
13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
