Test B: Parking Aid Is Inoperative/Does Not Operate Correctly
PINPOINT TEST B: PARKING AID IS INOPERATIVE/DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLYB1-B2:
B2-B5:
Normal Operation
With the ignition switch in the RUN position, and the gear selector in REVERSE, the parking aid system calculates the distance to an object by the use of a radar sensor. Reverse status is communicated to the parking aid module from the transmission range (TR) sensor on circuit 140 (BK/PK). Vehicle speed status is communicated to the parking aid module from the powertrain control module (PCM) on circuit 679 (GY/BK).
The parking aid system is disabled when the operator selects parking aid disable through the message center. The parking aid system remains disabled until either the ignition key is cycled from OFF to RUN, or parking aid enable is selected through the message center. A reference voltage is sent from the instrument cluster to the parking aid module on circuit 1435 (DG/VT) indicating that an OFF request has been made. The parking aid module generates a reference voltage to the instrument cluster on circuit 1436 (VT/OG) indicating that the request has been received, and the system has been disabled.
The parking aid system will be disabled if any fault is detected. This will be indicated by the message center indicating park assist disabled.
Possible Causes
- circuit 140 (BK/PK) open or short to ground
- circuit 1435 (DG/VT) short to voltage
- parking aid system wiring harness
- parking aid module
- TR sensor
- instrument cluster
