Hinge Adjustment - Rear

HINGE ADJUSTMENT - REAR


NOTE:
- To correctly align the doors, adjust the hinges and the door latch striker plates. Adjusting the hinge affects the positioning of the outside surface of the door frame. Adjusting the door latch striker plate affects the alignment of the door relative to the weatherstrip and the door closing characteristics.
- If the door does not align correctly, carry out an underbody misalignment check.
- The door should be adjusted for even and parallel fit with the body opening and surrounding panels.






1. Measure the clearance as specified.
2. Loosen the door latch striker plate bolt.
3. Remove the front seat safety belt retractor.







4. Mark the door hinge-to-body for reference.
5. Loosen the door hinge-to-body bolts enough to permit movement.
6. Adjust the door as necessary.
7. Tighten the door hinge-to-body bolts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).







8. Confirm the correct clearance as specified.
9. Install the front seat safety belt retractor.
10. Adjust the door latch striker as necessary.
11. Tighten the door latch striker plate bolt.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

12. Lubricate the hinges and door check arms with multi-purpose grease spray.
