Principles of Operation
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATIONThe operation of the roof opening panel depends upon the roof opening panel position when the roof opening panel switch is pressed. The roof opening panel is in the fully-closed position when the roof opening panel glass is in the fully forward position and is flush with the vehicle roof.
When the roof opening panel glass is in the fully closed position and the roof opening panel control switch is rocked rearward, the roof opening glass slides into the storage space between the headliner and the roof opening panel, exposing an opening over the front seats. The area of travel of the roof opening panel glass is the slide area.
When the roof opening panel glass is in the fully-closed position, pressing the roof opening panel control switch rearward and then releasing the switch activates the one-touch slide open feature. The roof opening panel slides fully rearward automatically and stops at the slide open position. Pressing the roof opening panel control switch either forward or rearward with the roof opening panel moving cancels the one-touch slide open operation.
When the roof opening panel glass stops anywhere in the slide area and the roof opening panel control switch is rocked forward, the roof opening panel glass moves forward to the fully-closed position. Near the end of the forward travel, the rear portion of the roof opening panel glass moves upward on 2 lifter arms, positioning the roof opening panel glass flush with the vehicle roof. This provides a weather-tight seal when the roof opening panel glass is fully-closed.
When the roof opening panel switch is rocked forward and released with the roof opening panel glass stopped anywhere in the slide area, the one-touch slide close feature is activated. The roof opening panel glass slides forward to the fully-closed position. Pressing the roof opening panel switch forward or rearward and releasing the switch cancels the one-touch slide operation and causes the roof opening panel glass motion to stop. If an obstruction is encountered while the one-touch slide close operation is activated, the roof opening panel glass reverses direction to the mid-open position and stops. Once the automatic reversal operation begins, the roof opening panel glass cannot be operated until it comes to a complete stop.
When the roof opening panel control switch is rocked forward with the roof opening panel glass in the fully-closed position, the rear of the roof opening panel glass opens to the vent position. With the roof opening panel glass in the vent position, rocking the roof opening panel control switch rearward closes the roof opening panel glass. The roof opening panel glass only moves to the fully-closed position from the vent position while the roof opening panel control switch is pressed.
The roof opening panel glass always closes from the slide area to provide a weather-tight seal. When closing the roof opening panel glass from the vent position, the roof opening panel glass travels past the fully-closed, flush position a slight amount and then returns to the fully-closed position automatically any time the roof opening panel glass is operated near the fully-closed position.
The roof opening panel shield is manually moved forward and rearward to cover the opening when the roof opening panel glass is in the fully-closed position. If the roof opening panel glass is in the forward position when the roof opening panel control switch is rocked rearward, the roof opening panel shield is pulled rearward by the roof opening panel glass.
