Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems: Description and Operation

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) With Traction Control
The 4-wheel, 4-channel anti-lock brake system (ABS) consists of these components:
^ ABS module
^ Front wheel speed sensor
^ Front wheel speed sensor jumper harness
^ Front wheel speed sensor ring (integral to the front wheel bearing)
^ Hydraulic control unit (HCU)
^ Rear wheel speed sensor
^ Rear wheel speed sensor ring (pressed onto the axle shaft)
^ Yellow ABS warning indicator
^ Traction control switch

The front wheel speed sensor rings are integral to the front hub and bearing assemblies.

The rear wheel speed sensor rings are pressed onto the axle shaft.
