Removal

6 speed transaxle
1. Remove the battery tray. For additional information, refer to Battery.





2. Disconnect the shift cable end from the manual lever.





3. Release the 2 tabs and remove the shift cable from the shift cable bracket.

FNR5 transaxle





4. Disconnect the shift cable end from the manual lever.





5. Release the 2 tabs and remove the shift cable from the shift cable bracket.

All vehicles





6. Remove the gear indicator bezel ring.





7. Remove the center console trim panel.





8. Pull up on the power outlet trim panel and remove it from the center console.





9. Disconnect the power outlet electrical connector and remove the power outlet trim panel.

10. NOTE: Center console removed for clarity.





Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the selector lever.





11. Release the tab and pull up on the selector lever cable and remove it from the selector lever housing.
12. Remove the restraint control module (RCM). For additional information, refer to Air Bag Systems.





13. Disconnect the 2 wiring harness fasteners and position the RCM wiring harness aside.





14. While holding the insulation away from the bulkhead, remove the 2 selector lever cable bracket nuts and remove the selector lever cable.

Installation

All vehicles





1. Install the selector lever cable and Install the 2 nuts.
^ Tighten to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.).





2. Position back the RCM wiring harness and install the fasteners on the studs.
3. Install the RCM. For additional information, refer to Air Bag Systems.





4. Install the selector lever cable in the selector lever housing.

5. NOTE: Center console removed for clarity.





Connect the selector lever cable end on the selector lever.





6. Connect the power outlet electrical connector.





7. Install the power outlet trim panel.





8. Install the center console trim panel.





9. Install the gear indicator bezel ring.

FNR5 transaxle





10. Position the selector lever cable in the bracket.





11. Install the selector lever cable end on the manual lever.

6 speed transaxle





12. Install the selector lever cable in the bracket.

Be sure the tabs are locked in place.





13. Connect the selector lever cable end on the manual lever.
14. Install the battery and battery tray. For additional information, refer to Battery.

All vehicles
15. Adjust the shift cable.
