Engine

Special Tool(s):





Removal (Steps 1-30)
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Remove the hood.
3. Disconnect both battery cables. For additional information, refer to Battery.
4. Remove the air cleaner and outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
5. Remove the wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft. For additional information, refer to Wiper and Washer Systems.
6. Remove the 2 nuts and the support bracket.





7. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories.
8. Remove the RH cowl extension.
1 Remove the pin-type retainers.
2 Remove the nuts.
3 Remove the bolts.
4 Remove the RH cowl extension.





9. Remove the LH cowl extension.
1 Disconnect the electrical connector.
2 Remove the bolts.
3 Remove the LH extension.





10. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System.
11. Disconnect the vacuum hose.





12. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve.
^ Disconnect the 2 quick release EVAP hoses.
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.





13. Disconnect the fuel tube spring lock coupling.
^ For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
14. Detach the generator battery cable retainer from the RH valve cover stud bolt.





15. Remove the nut and disconnect the generator battery cable.
^ Detach the generator battery cable pin-type retainer.





16. Disconnect the powertrain control module (PCM) electrical connectors.





17. Disconnect the ground wire.





18. Disconnect the A/C electrical connector.





19. Disconnect the A/C low charge protection switch electrical connector.





20. Disconnect the heater hoses.





21. Remove the ground strap.





22. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the hose connection. Secure the hose to the radiator assembly.





23. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the oil filter adapter.





24. Remove the cooling fan. For additional information, refer to Cooling System.
25. Drain the engine oil.
^ Install the drain plug when finished.
^ To install, tighten to 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.)





26. If equipped, disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
27. Disconnect the power steering electrical connector.





28. Disconnect the oil pressure sender electrical connector.





29. Disconnect the power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector.





30. CAUTION: The oil cooler must be replaced or severe damage to the engine can occur.

If equipped, remove and discard the oil cooler.
