RATTLE PARCEL SHELF - HEAVY RADIO BASS
Lincoln:
2009 MKS
ISSUE
Some 2009 Lincoln MKS vehicles may exhibit a parcel shelf rattle or sub-woofer induced rattle which may be due to the parcel shelf pop towers being installed in an incorrect position. Do not replace the sub-woofer for this issue.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Open the trunk and lower the rear edge of the inner trunk trim to access pop towers and bottom of the sub woofer (three (3) push pins and VELCRO(R) strip).
2. Locate the two (2) foam pop towers in the package tray sheet metal. (Figure 1)
3. Reposition both foam blocks (pop towers) such that the front edge is above the sheet metal by sliding it rearward while pushing the front edge of the pop tower through the sheet metal opening. It is not necessary to remove the parcel shelf topper trim. The forward edge of the foam is flexible and allows for repositioning from below. (Figures 2-3)
4. To install trunk trim, reverse the removal procedure.
