SEAT SIDE SHIELD PANEL LOOSE

ISSUE
Some 2009 MKS vehicles may exhibit a gap between the seat cushion and cushion side shield or a loose cushion side shield. The concern may be caused by a cracked or bent seat cushion side shield bracket.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the seat cushion side shield by following the seat control switch removal process in the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-10. (Figure 1)
2. Inspect the seat cushion side shield outer sur[ace to ensure that there is no sign of stress marks or warpage then inspect the clips and alignment braces for damage. (Figure 2 Label 1 and 2 and Figure 3)
a. If damage is found, replace the seat cushion side shield and the seat control switch cover (note the switch box does not need to be replaced, it is typically not affected by this failure).
b. If no damage is found, replace the seat control switch cover only.
3. Install the seat cushion side shield by following the seat control switch installation process in the WSM, Section 501-10. (Figures 4 and 5)
