Pinpoint Test D: No Power in START - Vehicles With an Ignition Switch

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 13, Power Distribution/SJB for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

When the ignition switch is in the START position, voltage is sent to the One-Touch Integrated Start (OTIS) diode in the Battery Junction Box (BJB) and the PCM along circuit CDC35 (BU/WH).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Ignition switch

PINPOINT TEST D: NO POWER IN START - VEHICLES WITH AN IGNITION SWITCH

NOTICE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.

-------------------------------------------------
D1 CHECK CIRCUIT CDC35 (BU/WH) FOR AN OPEN

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: OTIS Diode.
- Disconnect: PCM C175B.
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-7, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side and:
- OTIS diode, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), input side.
- PCM C175B-9, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side.

- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to D2.

No
REPAIR circuit CDC35 (BU/WH). TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
D2 ISOLATE THE IGNITION SWITCH

- With the key in the START position, measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-4, component side and ignition switch C250-7, component side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to D3.

No
INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch Ignition Switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
D3 CHECK FOR CORRECT IGNITION SWITCH OPERATION

- Connect: OTIS Diode.
- Connect: PCM C175B.
- Connect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Attempt to start the engine.
- Does the engine crank?

Yes
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
If the engine does not crank, REFER to Starting System to diagnose The Engine Does Not Crank.
