Pinpoint Test T: The Heated Seat is Inoperative - Right Rear, Does Not Operate in Low
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 119, Climate Controlled Seats for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
The right rear heated seat module receives voltage feed on circuit 1445 (RD/LG), ignition voltage feed on circuit 1040 (RD/BK) and is supplied ground on circuit 57 (BK). When the heated seat control switch is pressed with the ignition switch in RUN or START, a ground signal is sent to the heated seat module on circuit 1256 (WH/YE) to command the system ON or OFF (LOW heat mode).
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Heated seat switch
- Heated seat module
PINPOINT TEST T: THE HEATED SEAT IS INOPERATIVE - RIGHT REAR, DOES NOT OPERATE IN LOW
-------------------------------------------------
T1 CHECK THE HEATED SEAT SWITCH INPUT RESISTANCE TO THE HEATED SEAT MODULE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Right Rear Heated Seat Module C3163.
- Measure the resistance between right rear heated seat module C3163-11, circuit 1256 (WH/YE), harness side and ground while pressing the heated seat switch.
- Is the resistance less than 75 ohms when the heated seat switch is pressed?
Yes
INSTALL a new heated seat module. REFER to Heated Seat Module - Rear Seat Heated Seat Module - Rear Seat. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to T2.
-------------------------------------------------
T2 CHECK CIRCUITS 1256 (WH/YE) AND 1255 (WH/RD) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Right Rear Heated Seat Switch C822.
- Measure the resistance between:
- right rear heated seat switch C822-2, circuit 1255 (WH/RD), harness side and right rear heated seat module C3163-11, circuit 1256 (WH/YE), harness side.
- right rear heated seat switch C822-2, circuit 1255 (WH/RD), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the heated seat switch and heated seat module and greater than 10,000 ohms between the heated seat switch and ground?
Yes
GO to T3.
No
REPAIR the circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
T3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1256 (WH/YE) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between right rear heated seat module C3163-11, circuit 1256 (WH/YE), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
Yes
INSTALL a new heated seat switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
