Cylinder Head Assembly
Cylinder Head Torque & SequenceTighten the 10 cylinder head bolts in 6 stages, in the sequence shown.
Stage 1: Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees (one-fourth turn).
Stage 3: Loosen a minimum of one full turn (360 degrees).
Stage 4: Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
Stage 5: Tighten an additional 90 degrees (one-fourth turn).
Stage 6: Tighten an additional 90 degrees (one-fourth turn).
Bolt re-usability
NOTE: The cylinder head bolts must be discarded and new bolts installed. They are a tighten-to-yield design and cannot be reused.
Surface Variation -- Head-to-Block, Head-to-Manifolds and Surface Variation -- Warpage
Intake Manifold Torque & Sequence
Tighten the intake manifold bolts in the sequence shown.
Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
Camshaft Bearing Cap Torque & Sequence
Install the camshaft bearing caps and loosely install the bolts.
Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
Camshaft Pulley/Gear Torque
Install the camshaft sprocket and bolt. Tighten the bolt in 2 stages.
Stage 1: Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees (one-fourth turn).
Exhaust Manifold - LH
Install a new exhaust manifold gasket, the exhaust manifold and 8 new nuts.
- Tighten in sequence shown to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
Exhaust Manifold - RH
Install a new exhaust manifold gasket, the exhaust manifold and 8 new nuts.
- Tighten in sequence shown to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
