REVERSE HORIZONTAL MOVEMENT-MEMORY MIRRORS BUILT-BEFORE 1211/2008

ISSUE
Some 2009 Town Car vehicles built before 12/1/2008 and equipped with memory mirrors may exhibit reverse horizontal mirror movement from what is being commanded. This condition may be noticed when using the memory mirror function diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) B1668 and B1670 will be stored in the driver seat module (DSM), or when using the manual switch immediately after replacement of any of the following parts: left or right exterior mirror or the drivers door module (DDM).
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Revisions to the DDM software as well as to the exterior mirror wiring requires that all three components be at compatible level to ensure proper horizontal operation in either memory or manual mode. Check horizontal function using the manual switch as well as the memory function, if normal do not proceed with this procedure and continue with normal diagnostics.
1. Reprogram the DDM to the latest calibration using IDS B59 update 9 patch 11 or higher.
2. Remove the door trim panels following Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-05. Check the wiring pin locations for both exterior mirrors at the mirror side hard-shell connectors C522 (Drivers Side) and C615 (Passenger Side). The pin locations should be as follows, reposition if required:
a. Drivers Side Mirror
(1) Pin 5 - 540 (RD)
(2) Pin 10 - 947 (YE-RD)
b. Passenger Side Mirror
(1) Pin 5 - 543 (DG)
(2) Pin 10 - 952 (WH-LG)
