Pinpoint Test J: DTC U0131:00

Normal Operation
- DTC U0131:00 (Lost Communication With Power Steering Control Module: No Sub-Type Information) - sets in the Parking Aid Module (PAM) if data messages received from the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) are missing after the active park assist system is activated. For a complete list of all network messages, refer to Information Bus.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- PAM
- PSCM
PINPOINT TEST J: DTC U0131:00

J1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
- Is an observable symptom present?
Yes
GO to J2.
No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

J2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.
- Carry out the network test.
- Does the PSCM pass the network test?
Yes
GO to J3.
No
REFER to Information Bus.

J3 RECHECK THE PAM DTCs
- Clear the DTCs.
- Operate the system and test the system for normal operation.
- Repeat the PAM self-test.
- Is DTC U0131:00 still present?
Yes
GO to J4.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

J4 CHECK FOR DTC U0131:00 IN OTHER MODULES
- Clear all DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test.
- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
- Is DTC U0131:00 set in any module?
Yes
INSTALL a new steering gear. REFER to Steering Gear - Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) in Steering. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to J5.

J5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION
- Disconnect the PAM connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the PAM connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to Collision Avoidance and Parking Assist Systems. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
