Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset - Intelligent Access (IA)
NOTE: If the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module or the RFA module and the PCM were replaced, updated or reconfigured, follow Steps 1-14. All vehicle keys are erased during the parameter reset procedure. Verify at least 2 vehicle keys are available prior to carrying out the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) parameter reset. If only the PCM was replaced, follow Steps 10-12.
NOTE: A minimum of 2 Intelligent Access (IA) keys must be programmed into the RFA module to complete this procedure and allow the vehicle to start.
1. Make sure the ignition is in the OFF mode.
2. From the scan tool, follow the on-screen instructions to ENTER SECURITY ACCESS. For additional information, refer to Anti-Theft Security Access - Intelligent Access (IA) With Intelligent Access (IA).
3. Place an IA key in the backup transceiver slot.
4. From the scan tool menu select: Ignition Key Code Erase. Follow the on-screen instructions until the process has been completed and the PATS Functions screen is available again.
5. From the scan tool menu select: Program ignition key. Follow the on-screen instructions until the process has been completed and the PATS Functions screen is available again.
6. Remove the first IA key from the backup transceiver slot and verify the IA key has been programmed by pressing the lock and unlock buttons.
7. Place the second IA key in the backup transceiver slot.
8. From the scan tool menu select: Program ignition key. Follow the on-screen instructions until the process has been completed and the PATS Functions screen is available again.
9. Remove the second IA key from the backup transceiver slot and verify the IA key has been programmed by pressing the lock and unlock buttons.
10. Turn the ignition to the ON mode.
11. From the scan tool, select: Parameter Reset and follow the on-screen instructions.
12. Disconnect the scan tool.
13. The vehicle should now start with both IA keys.
14. Verify the operation of each key by placing one key at a time inside the passenger compartment and start the vehicle (make sure the rest of the keys are out of the vehicle when verifying each key operation).
