Information and Entertainment System
Functional Components
The functional components of the audio system and their location are:
- Audio Control Module (ACM)
- Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM)
- Front Display Interface Module (FDIM)
- Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), located under the floor console
- Audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Module, located in the LH side of the luggage compartment
- Global Positioning System Module (GPSM), located behind the instrument panel
- Subwoofer amplifier, located in the LH side of the luggage compartment
- Audio amplifier, located in the LH side of the luggage compartment
- Antenna module, located on the rear window
- Satellite radio antenna or combination Global Positioning System (GPS)/satellite radio antenna, located at the rear of the roof
- AM/FM antenna cable (2-piece)
- Satellite radio antenna cable
- Steering wheel controls
- Universal Serial Bus (USB) port and cable, located in the floor console
- Audio input jack, located in the floor console
- Clockspring
- Auto-dimming interior mirror (contains the microphone)
Audio Line-Up
The following audio systems are available:
- Premium

- Four door speakers (one in each door)

- Two A-pillar speakers (one in each A-pillar)
- Subwoofer speaker (located in the parcel shelf) with dedicated amplifier

- Two front door speakers (one in each door)
- Three instrument panel speakers (located in the LH, center, and RH side of the instrument panel)
- Two A-pillar speakers (one in each A-pillar)
- Two rear door mid-woofer speakers (one in each door)
- Two rear door tweeters (one in each door)
- Two rear surround speakers (located in the parcel shelf)
- Audio DSP module
All audio systems include the following features:

The navigation system is optional.
AM/FM Antenna
The AM/FM antenna is located in the rear glass. It cannot be replaced separate from the rear glass.
Satellite Radio Antenna
The satellite radio antenna is a stand-alone antenna on vehicles without navigation, and is a combination satellite/GPS antenna on vehicles with navigation.
Satellite Radio Antenna Cable
The rear satellite radio antenna cable connects the front satellite radio antenna cable to the satellite radio antenna. The connection to the front satellite radio antenna cable is at the base of the RH C-pillar. The front satellite radio antenna cable is part of the wiring harness. If it is necessary to install a new front satellite radio antenna cable, the new cable should be overlaid on the harness and secured as necessary.
AM/FM Antenna Cable
The front antenna cable is connected to the ACM and has an in-line connector (located at the right end of the instrument panel below the glove compartment) to the rear antenna cable. The antenna cable runs along the passenger side rocker panel within the body main wiring harness and runs up the passenger side C-pillar to the antenna module.
The rear antenna cable is not removable from the wiring harness. If the rear antenna cable needs to be replaced, cut the ends and leave the cable in the wiring harness. Route the new cable on top of the wiring harness and secure it with wire ties. Do not cut into the wiring harness to remove the existing antenna cable.
Satellite Audio
The satellite audio system is comprised of the following:
- Satellite radio receiver, integral to the ACM
- Stand-alone satellite radio antenna (vehicles without navigation)
- Combination satellite radio/GPS antenna (vehicles with navigation)
- 2-piece satellite radio antenna cable
The satellite audio system provides satellite reception while the customer has an active subscription. All of the functionality of the satellite system is built-in to the ACM.
Navigation System
The navigation system is integral to the ACM. The ACM controls the operation of the navigation and audio systems. The system uses a GPS antenna, a vehicle speed input, and other sensor information to accurately establish the vehicle position. The FDIM displays the navigation screen and the directional instructions.
SYNC System
The SYNC system is comprised of the following:
- APIM
- SYNC-specific steering wheel controls
- Microphone
- USB port
- Audio input jack
SYNC is a hands-free communications and entertainment system that allows the following interactions:
- Send and receive phone calls via a Bluetooth-enabled phone
- Send and receive text messages via a Bluetooth-enabled phone
- Connect media devices (such as an iPod(R) or USB flash device) in order to play audio files
- Play media files via a Bluetooth-enabled audio device
- Produce vehicle health reports
- Initiate an emergency call (eCall) when the air bags deploy
Not all features are available with every phone.
