Rear Cross-Member: Service and Repair
Transmission Support Crossmember
Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.
2. Remove the exhaust system. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System [1][2]Diagrams.
3. Remove the transmission insulator nuts.
4. Install a suitable transmission jack.
5. Remove the RH side transmission support crossmember bolts.
6. Remove the LH side transmission support crossmember bolts.
7. Remove the bolts and remove the park brake cable bracket and position aside.
8. NOTICE: The transmission support crossmember is a press fit in the transmission support crossmember pocket. It may be necessary to pry the transmission support crossmember out of the transmission support crossmember pocket. Be careful not to damage the transmission support crossmember.
Lower the RH side of the transmission support crossmember.
9. NOTICE: The transmission support crossmember is a press fit in the transmission support crossmember pocket. It may be necessary to pry the transmission support crossmember out of the transmission support crossmember pocket. Be careful not to damage the transmission support crossmember.
Lower the LH side of the transmission support crossmember and remove the transmission support crossmember.
Installation
1. Position the LH side of the transmission support crossmember into the transmission support crossmember pocket and loosely install the bolts.
2. Position the RH side of the transmission support crossmember into the transmission support crossmember pocket and loosely install the bolts.
3. Tighten the LH transmission support crossmember bolts.
- Tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).
4. Tighten the RH transmission support crossmember bolts.
- Tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).
5. Install the park brake cable bracket.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
6. Lower the transmission onto the transmission support crossmember and install the transmission insulator and retainer nuts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
7. Remove the transmission jack.
8. Install the exhaust system. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System [1][2]Diagrams.
