Instrument Panel

Removal and Installation

1. Remove the steering wheel. For additional information, refer to Steering Column Removal and Replacement.

2. Remove the steering column opening trim panel screw and push-pin retainer.

3. Position the parking brake release assembly aside and remove the steering column reinforcement.

4. Remove the 5 bolts and the steering column reinforcement.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

5. From under the hood, loosen the bolt and disconnect the LH bulkhead connector.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).





6. Release the LH bulkhead connector from the dash panel.

7. Open the glove compartment. Disconnect the glove compartment isolator.

8. While pushing in on the 2 glove compartment door tabs, position the glove compartment downward.

9. Remove the instrument panel support brace bolt through the glove compartment opening.
- Close the glove compartment door.

- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

10. Remove the RH instrument panel lower insulator.

11. Position the LH and RH door weatherstrip seals aside.

12. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar lower trim panels.
- To install, make sure to align the trim panel retaining clips to the retaining clip holes in the body.

13. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels.
- To install, make sure to align the trim panel retaining clips to the retaining clip holes in the body.

14. Remove the RH ground bolt.

15. Disconnect the 4 RH instrument panel wiring harness electrical connectors.

16. Remove the LH ground bolt.

17. Disconnect the 2 LH instrument panel wiring harness connectors.

18. Disconnect the parking brake release vacuum connector.

19. Disconnect the vacuum connector.





20. Remove the nut and position the steering column brace aside.
- To install, tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).

21. Remove and discard the intermediate shaft pinch bolt.
- Separate the intermediate shaft from the steering column shaft.

- To install, use a new intermediate shaft pinch bolt and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).

22. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the steering column shift tube lever and the steering column bracket.

23. Remove the pin-type retainer and the tunnel brace trim cover.

24. Remove the 2 nuts and 2 screws and remove the instrument panel tunnel brace.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).

25. Remove the instrument panel defroster opening grille.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

26. Remove the instrument panel cowl top bracket bolt.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

27. Remove the 3 instrument panel cowl top bracket screws.

28. Remove the RH instrument panel cowl side nut.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).

29. Remove the upper LH instrument panel cowl side nut.
- To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).

30. Remove the lower LH instrument panel cowl side bolt.
- To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).

31. NOTE: Removing the instrument panel from the vehicle requires an assistant.

Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.

32. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
