Pinpoint Test T: The Reversing Lamps Are On Continuously

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 93, Reversing Lamps for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

When the ignition switch is in the RUN position, voltage is provided to the digital Transmission Range (TR) sensor from the Central Junction Box (CJB). When the transmission is placed in REVERSE, the digital TR sensor routes voltage to the reversing lamps, the auto-dimming interior mirror and the Parking Aid Module (PAM).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Auto-dimming interior mirror
- PAM
- Digital TR sensor

PINPOINT TEST T: THE REVERSING LAMPS ARE ON CONTINUOUSLY

-------------------------------------------------
T1 CHECK THE DIGITAL TR SENSOR

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Digital TR Sensor C167.
- Ignition ON.
- Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate?

Yes
GO to T2.

No
INSTALL a new digital TR sensor. REFER to Automatic Transaxle/Transmission - 4R70E/4R75E Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
T2 CHECK THE AUTO-DIMMING INTERIOR MIRROR

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Interior Rear View Mirror C911.
- Ignition ON.
- Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate?

Yes
GO to T3.

No
INSTALL a new auto-dimming interior mirror. REFER to Rear View Mirrors Interior Rear View Mirror. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
T3 CHECK THE DIGITAL TR SENSOR OUTPUT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PAM C4014.
- Ignition ON.
- Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate?

Yes
REPAIR circuit 140 (BK/PK) for a short to voltage. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to Parking Aid Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.
