Pinpoint Test G: The Delayed Accessory Does Not Turn Off
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
The delayed accessory feature allows the power windows, radio and roof opening panel (if equipped) to function for up to 10 minutes after the ignition is turned off or until any door is opened. The delayed accessory function is controlled by the Lighting Control Module (LCM). The LCM, when awake, supplies a ground for the accessory delay relay coil through circuit 194 (PK). When the ignition switch is turned from ON to OFF, the LCM begins the timing sequence. If a door is opened, the LCM turns off the accessory delay function. If the ignition switch is turned to another position, the LCM also cancels the delayed accessory function.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Accessory delay relay
- LCM
PINPOINT TEST G: THE DELAYED ACCESSORY DOES NOT TURN OFF
-------------------------------------------------
G1 CHECK THE LCM 10 MINUTE TIMER FOR CORRECT OPERATION
NOTE: The key should be cycled by reaching through the driver side window.
- Open the driver window and close all doors.
- Ignition ON.
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Accessory Delay Relay.
- Measure the resistance between accessory delay relay pin 85, circuit 194 (PK), harness side and ground.
- Wait 10 minutes.
- Is the resistance less than 60 ohms for 10 minutes, then cycle to greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
GO to G2.
No
GO to G3.
-------------------------------------------------
G2 CHECK CIRCUIT 193 (YE/LG) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Measure the voltage between accessory delay relay pin 30, circuit 193 (YE/LG), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new accessory delay relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
G3 CHECK CIRCUIT 194 (PK) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: LCM C2145b.
- Measure the resistance between accessory delay relay pin 85, circuit 194 (PK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
GO to G4.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
G4 CHECK FOR CORRECT LCM OPERATION
- Disconnect all LCM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- Connect all LCM connectors and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new LCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Lighting Control Module (LCM).
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
