Front Fender: Service and Repair




Fender

Removal and Installation

1. Remove the front bumper cover.

2. Remove the front wheel and tire.

3. Remove the fender splash shield. For additional information, refer to Fender Splash Shield Fender Splash Shield.

4. Remove the front section of the rocker cover trim panel by pulling outward to release the 4 lower clips and lift upward to release the 8 side clips.





5. NOTE: If shims are present during removal, be sure to reinstall shims and check fender alignment.
Remove the front fender lower rear bolts located at the lower rear area of the fender.

- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).


6. Remove the inner fender insulator pushpin and insulator to gain access to the front fender rear bolt located at the rear of the wheelhouse opening. Remove the bolt.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).






7. Remove the front fender upper rear bolt located near the upper door hinge.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).


8. Remove the bumper cover mounting reinforcement bolt.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).


9. Remove the fender reinforcement bracket-to-fender bolts and the reinforcement bracket-to-body bolts located at the front of the fender.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).


10. Remove the windshield roof reveal moulding scrivet and reveal moulding U-clip that is attached to the fender tab. Gently position the moulding aside to allow removal of the fender bolt located by the hood hinge. For additional information, refer to Auxiliary Step / Running Board.

11. Remove the fender upper bolts.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).


12. NOTE: If reusing an existing fender baffle, use a locally obtained flexible foam repair expandable foam sealant to seal the area around the entire perimeter of the fender baffle.

Remove the rear expandable foam baffle.
- If expandable foam sealant has been used between the rear expandable foam baffle and the cowling, carefully cut the foam sealant to remove the rear expandable foam baffle from the cowling.


13. Remove the fender.

14. NOTE: When installing the fender, correctly position the fender to the brackets and supports for proper alignment and fit.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
